A fun place for the whole family! You can download the Sunset Walk app to locate events and activities happening at Sunset Walk. There are multiple dining options, shopping, concerts, car shows, to name just a few things you will find happening here. Margaritavielle is only about 2 miles from Emerald Island Resort. There is plenty of parking, and it is walkable from Emerald Island. I suggest checking the app before heading over, some activities require registration in advance.

This is a cute little town about 45 minutes (without traffic) from the house and well worth the trip. The town is known for its festivals, antique shops, restaurants, and even has a brewery. The downtown area overlooks beautiful Lake Dora. Park and walk the streets of the town for the best experience. There are boat rides on the lake, you can search the internet for more information on lake activities and a schedule of festivals.
This is a lakeside restaurant in Mount Dora. Their menu is reasonably priced and has something for everyone. They have a wide selection of signature cocktails, craft beer, and wine.

There are many things to do here: swim in the beautiful water, playgrounds on the beach, tons of places to shop and dine, and a walk over the ocean on Pier 60. You will drive over the causeway to get to Clearwater beach, here you will see many people fishing and soaking up the sun, it is a fun place to pull over and get up close to the warm Gulf waters. You can search for boat rides in the area to explore the open waters.

If you visit Clearwater beach you can take a nice Gulf view drive up to Tarpon Springs. There is a beautiful town beach called Sunset Beach, your GPS will take you there. This location is much more lowkey than Clearwater beach. The water is warm and shallow and great for kids to play in, and there is no fee to park (at least there wasn't when we were there 3/2022). A short drive around the corner you will find Howard Beach Park, a great place to swim, rent kayaks and other water activities. There is a small fee to park, I don't recall the amount but is was a small fee.
The town is home to the historic sponge docs, there is a museum dedicated to this in the town. There are boat rides leaving from the doc in town, you can find this information with a Google search.
There is a strong Greek community here, with plenty of places to eat authentic Greek food. We ate at Yannies in the heart of the town, I had a freshly caught Gulf red snapper and it was delicious! You can easily spend the whole day here on the beach and exploring the town.

Beautiful town with plenty of beach along the space coast . The area leads to cocoa beach. You can see the rocket launches from the beach! You can be in Cape Canaveral in 60-75 minutes. You can plan a cruise after your stay at Emerald Island!

This is a beautiful park along Lake Tohopekaglia. It is about a 30 minute drive from the house. I suggest stopping at Old Town (if that is on your list of things to do) on the way back since you will drive right by on the way there and back.
We packed a lunch and ate at a nice spot overlooking the lake, there is free parking at the park. Kids can run around in a wide open field, there were many families picnicking when we visited.
There is a cute lighthouse that you can walk up to and explore. The lake is known for bass fishing, not something I know a lot about but there is a boat club at the park.
The lake has historical significance, it to the Seminoles and acted as places of refuge during the three Seminole Wars in the first half of the 19th century. There are plaques on site to read more about the history of the lake.

There is a multitude of state parks to visit in central Florida. I suggest visiting the state park website and browse around. Many of the parks have natural springs with activities for the whole family.
