It is the original farm shed that has been fully renovated, which basically means the whole thing was pulled apart and put back together! The end result is a rustic and inviting space to have a yarn over a cocktail, gin or whisky with friends. During warmer days the gardens and decks provide a relaxing environment and during the colder months a spot beside the fire is most enticing. Gins are on offer for consumption and sale, with limited amount of our 2nd Whisky Release “Sister Sunday” available for tastings purchase. We also have a wider selection of whiskies also available for tasting. For those who wish to have an alternative to Gin or Whisky ( why? ) we do have a few of the local wines , beers and ciders available plus some soft options for the drivers. The Whiskery is an 18+years only venue which operates primarily as cellar door and we specialise in offering the small group experience ( max 10 per group) promoting the sale of our products as well as providing cocktails and other drinks for the adult consumer.

On the north side of The Bellarine, Portarlington has the gentle lapping of clear waters of Port Phillip Bay on its shores. Just up the hill, the street has a strip of cafes, bakeries and take away (fish and chips on the beach thanks!) plus a good old-fashioned pick-your-own lolly shop, Pier View. Sweet! With uninterrupted bay views across to the You Yangs and, on a clear day, Melbourne, Portarlington is a beautiful bayside town with loads of local flavour. The coastal road from Portarlington to St Leonards is glorious, hugging the water closely and showing off big blue skies and clear, calm water and now it's even easier to get here with Port Phillip Ferries cruising to and from Melbourne Docklands every day. Some of its most famous residents are also its most delicious, with Australian Blue Mussels grown just offshore and harvested daily by the fleet moored in the harbour. They’re celebrated every year at the Portarlington Mussel Festival on the second Saturday in January, while Queen’s Birthday weekend welcomes the National Celtic Festival for four days celebrating spirit and culture with music, dancing and good craic. Portarlington is surrounded by vineyards, has more mussels than Arnie and throws a great Celtic party.

This 4-storey sandstone relic was once a steam flour mill, built in 1857 to help process grain crops grown on the Bellarine Peninsula to feed the hordes of folk flocking to the gold fields. Its sandstone blocks were carved from nearby seacliffs. Listed by the National Trust, the mill houses displays and a collection of historic memorabilia. It’s just 300 metres from the beach but easily missed unless you’re looking for it. Trust me: it’s well worth seeking out just to clap your eyes on its old-world elegance.

Golf

It’s near the beach, but it’s not a links ... it has some beautiful trees, but it’s not a parklands course, either. You can play championship events here, or just knock about on a shorter layout with your mates. Welcome to one of Bellarine golf’s best-kept secrets – a wonderfully prepared layout which has that rare and much-sought combination of challenge and fun for players at all levels. The course features superbly conditioned bent greens, drains quickly and is an easy walk with only gentle undulations. Even better, with a range of tee choices, you’ll find a length and difficulty that suits your level of play. Throw in a legendary group of characters in our fully stocked pro shop and all the trappings of our wonderful clubhouse and you’ll feel right at home – just how we want it. www.portarlingtongolf.com.au

With a sandy base, a minimum of trees and naturally undulating couch fairways the links type course has maintained its position as one of the best on the Bellarine and has continued its rise in the rankings and sits 54th in Australia (Golf Australia Magazine 2020). With challenging bunkers, firm and fast greens it is the wind however that often determines the level of playing difficulty. The course measures 6150 metres from the championship marks and is a challenging par-71/73. A challenge for players of all standards and a true test of golfing ability.

The bus service goes from Geelong to Portarlington - a great way to sight see along the way. Having a vehicle of your own is the quickest way to get around and provides the most flexibility for time and locations on the Bellarine
