Sightseeing in Stevns & Copenhagen
The cottage is about a 20-minute car ride from many nice locations and offers numerous opportunities for active outdoor experiences. You can visit Køge, a charming and bustling city with museums, restaurants, and shopping opportunities, Stevns Klint - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - and the Geomuseum in Faxe, the charming harbor town of Rødvig, as well as enjoy a visit to Camp Adventure, a spectacular tower in the forest.
If you plan to go to Copenhagen, it is about an hour by car. I would recommend returning late to the cabin to avoid rush hour traffic (4-5 pm). Great nature experience, the Holtug chack pit, was still active until 1972. With an outstanding and broad variety of rare and preserved plants a good place to look for fossils too.

The old Stevns Lighthouse was built in 1816-18 and was at the time one of the most modern lighthouses in Europe. Today the lighthouse is remotely operated and makes one long flare every 25 seconds.

The old church in Højerup, was built around the year 1250 on the very edge of the 30 m. high cliff. But the sea underminines the cliff, and in 1928 the choir crashed to the sea.

The local supermarket is 15 minutes on the bike, Super Brugsen is open until 20.00 everyday, including Saturdays and Sundays. You can buy most food and vine there, very average, fresh but not gourmet!

The limestone quarry located just east of Faxe. When you go down into the quarry, you are at the bottom of a 63 million. years old sea. You can look for fossils or just enjoy the space landscape.

A 600 meter treetop walk connected to a 45 meter tall observation tower creates a unique opportunity to take a walk above the treetops and experience the stunning nature of the preserved forest from another perspective. The tower and treetop walk is as a seamless continuous ramp that makes the forest accessible to all - regardless of their physical condition.
The Treetop Experience is located in the preserved forest, Gisselfeld Klosters Skove, one hour south of Copenhagen, Denmark. The forest is graced with several natural biotopes such as lakes, creeks and wetlands.
