It is a must in Bogotá. A beautifull building Rogelio Salmona designed the Biblioteca Virgilio Barco in Bogota Colombia. It was completed in 2003 just a few years before Salmona’s death. Lawns of greenery, great strips of colorful mosaics, and flowing pools of water fill the rooftops in between skylights and walkways. The layers of bookcases swirl like terraces around deep lobbies with task lighting throughout the spaces. These circular spaces face the beautiful hills. The building’s approach slopes down into the earth. Structure gradually accumulates overhead until it assumes a grand composition with full utilization of negative spaces. Truly a triumph of Modernism!

The Teatro de Cristóbal Colón (The Christopher Columbus Theatre), also known as the "Teatro Colón", is located in Bogotá, Colombia and it is the nation's National Theatre. It was built in the Neoclassical style by the Italian architect Pietro Cantini in 1885 and inaugurated on 27 October 1892 [1] on the occasion of the fourth centenary of the discovery of America with a performance of Verdi's Ernani. [2] The auditorium was constructed in the tradition horseshoe-shape and modelled on the layout of the Palais Garnier in Paris, but only about half the size.[1] The Colón Theatre was declared a National Monument on 11 August 1975, and underwent renovations for three years.

A Must :-) It is the oldest in the country and one of the oldest in the continent, built in 1823. Its fortress architecture is built in stone and brick. The plant includes arches, domes and columns forming a sort of Greek cross over which 104 prison cells are distributed, with solid wall façade. The museum houses a collection of over 20,000 pieces including works of art and objects representing different national history periods. Permanent exhibitions present archeology and ethnography samples from Colombian artefacts dating 10,000 years BC, up to twentieth century indigenous and afro- Colombian art and culture.

It was a small town 50 years ago and nowadays is part of the city, many restaurants and on Sundays there is a flee market and hand crafts. There is a nice shopping mall: Hacienda Santa Barbara. Usaquén still retains the air of the quiet town it was before being absorbed as a suburb of Bogotá in 1954. On the eastern side of the main square stands the church of Santa Barbara Usaquén, which dates back to the mid-seventeenth century. Walk through the narrow streets around it, buy crafts, and visit local bars and elegant restaurants serving traditional local or international food.

The best view of Bogotá! It is a mountain that dominates the city center of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. It rises to 3,152 metres above the sea level (500m above Bogotá) where there is a church (built in the 17th century) with a shrine, devoted to El Señor Caído ("The Fallen Lord"). The hill, already considered sacred in pre-Colombian times when the area was inhabited by the indigenous Muisca, is a pilgrim destination. It can be accessed by aerial tramway or a funicular. Both the aerial tramway and the funicular are fun. You might go up by funicular and down by the aerial tramway.

Where it all began: it is believed that Bogotá was founded in Chorro de Quevedo Plaza on August 6, 1538. This open space in the neighborhood of La Candelaria, where you will find a doctrinal chapel, can be reached by an old narrow, cobblestone street called Calle del Embudo (Funnel Street). The square is popular with street performers and a meeting place for college students. The square takes its name from an Augustinian priest, Friar Quevedo, who in 1832 purchased the site and set up the public water fountain in the centre. Its water supply was cut off when a nearby building collapsed in 1896.

Beautiful lake. It was reputedly one of the sacred lakes of the Muisca, and a ritual conducted there is widely thought to be the basis for the legend of El Dorado. The legend says the lake is where the Muisca celebrated a ritual in which the zipa (named "El Dorado" by the conquistadors) was covered in gold dust, then venturing out into the water on a ceremonial raft made of rushes, he dived into the waters, washing off the gold. Afterward, trinkets, jewelry, and other precious offerings were thrown into the waters by worshipers. A few artifacts of gold and silver found at bottom hold proof to this claim.

A narrow, cobblestoned street gets its name from its shape. Embudo translates to "funnel" in English; the street is shaped like a funnel. It is one of the most colourful streets in the historic La Candelaria district and leads to the Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo. Many walls on Calle del Embudo are painted with street art or graffiti, in the bright colours of Colombia. Some of them depict legends from the pre-Columbian era.
