(1) Simply drive and enjoy the scenery, taking a loop going the * east, and then Sunset Highway (78 / 79).
(2) Plan your route and find hundreds of hikes within Cleveland National Forest (or the State Park). There is Mount Laguna, Volcan, Stone Peak, etc. visit alltrails.com for ideas and recommendations for your chosen experience and capabilities.
(3) Our favorite is number 3... Go for a hike, and along the way back take Sunrise Highway and stop at several of the amazing wineries along the way- looping eventually up through Ramona and back down to to San Diego proper. *drive responsibly/ have a sober driver.
