River Cabin at Flint Ridge

Fishing: Illinois River has Bass, Carp, Sunfish, Catfish, and Crappie. Clear Lake has a row boat on the bank for people to use to get out into the middle, enjoy the peace, and fish. Bear Lake is great to throw a kayak in, it is rarely touched, and we heard it has lots of great fish waiting to be caught.

Flint Ridge runs canoe and kayak rentals. This is from June-Aug How does that work? We sign you up, and you meet at the Flint Ridge office. (we will get you the directions if you need it)then they bus you right back to the drop off point right by our cabin. The float is about 2.5 hours, then they pick you up at the Canoe pickup area. They will then drive you back to where the bus lets off by the Flint Ridge Office. They can book out, so you MUST reach out to me if your looking for this.

Golfing: Flint Ridge has a 9 hole golf course. If you want 18 holes, just do it again, but the second run has different areas to tee off, so its a little different then the first time you did it. They do not do tee times since its not generally very busy. Busy times will be holidays and weekends. Cost is $31 for the weekend, and 26 for week days. Just show up and play.

ATV Riding: As a gated community, there is not much traffic, so driving the roads is a blast. They do have security, and they can ticket you, so be safe. They are working on current trails, but the best thing to do is roll down to the Canoe pickup spot, and roll around on the ATV trails that others have made in that area. Got to admit, they are pretty fun!

Firewood: We generally plan for people to use about 20 pieces of firewood. However, if a fire is your thing, and your friends call you a “pyro” you will want a little more. We ask that you look around and gather branches, and other wood that is laying around the property and use that if you have exceeded. There is always plenty. This enables us to provide firewood for everyone.
