The enclave known as South of Fifth in Miami Beach, or SoFi, is a small affluent neighborhood situated on the southern tip of Miami Beach that begins at South Pointe Park and covers north to 5th Street, from east to west. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay and Government Cut, South of Fifth is known as an exclusive tropical paradise where you can both relax and have easy access to all of the exciting watersports and activities that South Florida is so celebrated for.

Coconut Grove is located in mainland Miami. The neighborhood has lots of parks on the water and great restaurants (like Ariete, Le Bouchon, Los Felix, etc.).

Again, I'd only come here if you have a car and wish to explore. Key Biscayne offers another perspective on Miami life. This island has lovely beaches and at the very bottom there's a national park where you can walk on trails or hit some beaches. I would drive here with my dog (on weekdays) to escape South Beach. Be aware that the national park is not open late.

This place is everything we love about South Beach: sexy and colorful and not afraid of a hot pink neon sign, without any of the nasty overpriced stuff you’ll eat and drink on Ocean Drive.

Inside, it’s vintage ’80s with cheetah print wallpaper, a disco ball, and lots of shiny mirrored surfaces. The backyard is old-school tropical tiki, with a little hut that’s one of our favorite places in Miami to get rum drunk and a taco stand right next to it in case you get hungry. This place isn’t very close to many other Miami bars, but walking from room to room can feel a little like bar hopping if that’s what you’re after.

The backyard is old-school tropical tiki, with a little hut that’s one of our favorite places in Miami to get rum drunk and a taco stand right next to it in case you get hungry. This place isn’t very close to many other Miami bars, but walking from room to room can feel a little like bar hopping if that’s what you’re after.
Swizzle is a bar that feels like a cross between a tiki bar and a speakeasy - or a tiki-easy, which is a word we just made up that’s as fun to say as this bar is to drink at. Even though it’s only three short steps below the lobby, Swizzle is dimly lit and cozy, and will make you feel like you’re in the hull of an old wooden ship. The drink menu is extensive and unanimously excellent, especially the swizzle cocktails.

Grocery stores
Publix and Target offer a wide array of grocery and toiletry options. These two stores are located across from each other and a 8-10 minute walk from the condo. If you want something a little fancier, there's a Whole Foods not far.
If you need something from the nearest pharmacy, the CVS and Walgreens a block away is good for emergencies or grabbing things on the go!
There is a deli/bodega on Collins Ave (1 block south of the apartment) but it's not the cheapest option for doing a large grocery buy. It's open later than most places so it's good for emergencies and small items/purchases.
