A great walking destination in the neighborhood is Lake Elton. The lake is private property, so please be respectful and do not travel past where the gravel road splits into two driveways. It's really close, very pleasant, and usually has some geese.

Food scene
Our local NC (vinegar-based, although they have a few other sauces to choose from) BBQ joint. A bit of a dive, but they are super-friendly and have some amazing sides!

The Glass Jug is our go-to brewery. They tend to make a variety of beers rather than focusing on one style, so it's a good spot for anyone who likes beer. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and you can bring food in to enjoy - there are even several restaurants in the same plaza.

Our go-to Indian food. Fast, affordable, delicious, unpretentious, and run by a lovely couple. When we don't feel like cooking, take-out from here is usually the right answer.
