Parks & Nature
Beaches:
Very long and large sand beach at Whitefish Dunes state park, 7 minutes south of our home.
Egg Harbor across the peninsula has a new public beach, called "Egg Harbor Beach." I called the marina manager and she said that unless the lake has huge waves, they definitely have a sandy beach. That is 20 min from our house.
Frank E. Murphy Park looks online from "latest" photos to have a sandy beach.
Destination Door County website has current information on beaches (Airbnb won't let me link to it but you can look it up.) The site will show you the range of beaches you could look at for frolicking in the water.
Also, Sturgeon Bay Harbor has a nice beach, it's on a Door County Land Trust property.
Another beach much closer to our home: Jacksonport Beach in Lakeside Park. Sandy beach. Jacksonport is a 10 minute drive from our home.
Look up Emma Toft...an awesome woman who protected her families land from logging, especially the virgin white pines. An outstanding preserve for hiking in a forest as well as along the shore.

Great lookout tower to climb! It's wheel chair accessible. It's a large beautiful park with great vistas along Green Bay side of peninsula, many picnicking spots, and wonderful hiking trails! Can be busy on weekends.

They have standard tours on Saturdays at certain times of the year. It’s a wonderful experience and quite fascinating. It’s only 10 minutes from our house.
