My favorite thrift shop in town. It’s clean and well organized, almost like shopping at a boutique store. When you shop here you help support Careage House, run by God’s Shelter of Love, the only emergency overnight facility for homeless women. GSL also has a full time residence for ladies trying to get back on their feet.

Rock Springs Conservation Area and Nature Center. Great walking trails and learning experiences. The Steven’s Creek Bikeway runs through the park and connects to Fairview Park. They host many free or low cost seasonal events.

Steven's Creek Bikeway is a 11.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located in Decatur, Illinois that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Stevens Creek Bikeway follows a scenic stream for 4 miles through neighborhoods and woodlands, connecting two parks (one at each end of the trail) on the western side of Decatur in central Illinois. The pathway is relatively flat and trail-goers are likely to spot deer or other wildlife along the way.
Restrooms, drinking water and abundant parking are all available along the southern trail section that runs through Fairview Park. At its end point there, the trail connects directly to the Fairview Park Trail, which in turn connects to the Conservation District Trail, and it to the Kiwannis Park/West Side Trail.

My favorite grocery in town! 12 to17 minutes away. It’s a little further away from Tudor Rose but is worth the trip. We have two locations, one in Decatur headed north and one in Mt. Zion heading east from Tudor Rose. If you’ve never shopped at an Aldi before, it’s a treat. Fresh fruit and produce, yummy breads and baked goods and all the staples you might need. My favorite is their selection of cheese and crackers, gourmet olives and spreads, and a wonderful affordable wine selection. They are actually owned by the same company that owns Trader Joe’s.
