Sightseeing

Worthing Pier, one of Britain’s Victorian seaside piers - having been rebuilt twice due to damage by weather or war. With a cafe at one end and a theatre at the other, it’s a nice stroll for a casual Sunday and gets busy in the summer. From the house, it is approximately 5 minutes walk to reach the pier and seaside promenade.

A short drive away (5 miles) to Findon Valley and you arrive at the open expanses of Cissbury Ring, the 6000 year old site once mined for flint in the neolithic area now has horses grazing on it. It’s a great site to walk around and you have great views from the top of the surrounding area. The walk is approximately 30-45 mins and not too strenuous beyond the initial bit.

Parks & Green Spaces

Homefield Park is around the corner from the house and is a multi-functional green space with a tennis court, ping-pong tables, skatepark, playground and open green. We take our dog - our Weimaraner pup Sidney - here most days. Everyone is very friendly and it has a great community feel to it.

Doesn’t look like much but this little spot along Marine Parade is great - really great - at one thing. Pizza.

Like sports? Keen on pool (the giant table purist kind) or snooker? Don’t mind dingy? This is your place. Has a rooftop overlooking the Marine Parade and pier.

Aptly titled Portland Road has a sliver of the charm associated by its Oregon cousin. Brew pubs, bars and this little place are worth spending time in

Our local on “supermarket roundabout” is a fab local, always busy and competing with New Amsterdam opposite. With a beer garden out the front and back, as well as ample seating inside, nice for a summer’s day and a roast on Sundays

Thieves Kitchen is on a good on lively, pedestrianised Warwick St (also has Johnny’s, the ice cream place Giuseppe’s and the wine bar). This boozer shows the sport and (my favourite) has shuffle board tables.

Upmarket cocktail-focused bar on the lovely pedestrianised Warwick St. Food is mainly of the snacks-whilst-drinking variety rather than a full meal so we would recommend this place for a night out. On the weekends, no trainers and booking is recommended.

Laughing Dog is a new addition to Worthing, recently opening on the Brighton Road. It’s one of those places that is simultaneously a shop that sells trinkets and gifts from independent makers, plants as well as functioning as a café - having perfected this formula in their original Brighton location, which has been operating for more than a decade. The place is busy - primarily for its toasties and pancakes - and rightfully so!

Opened 2021 as a more laid back compliment to resident Masterchef Kenny Tutt. Right on the beachfront close to Splashpoint, this rivals our love of Crab Shack. Tip: also open on a Mon-Tue (which is unusual for Worthing)

Revamped Mexican on the Marine Parade, with a tasty menu of Mexican food (try the tacos) and cocktails. You can’t miss it - it’s the pink front and right next to Oregano (also recommended).

Located facing the seafront, nestled on the raised car park terrace between the beach, the bowling alley and the M&S, this terrace with pop up food options and picnic tables is great for socialising and proximity to the trendy Montague Quarter and the beach makes it a great place to go after the beach before a stroll into town. Options here include coffee, various food as well as a bar
