Don't miss this wonderful small town business named Thrifty Chix and don't let its name fool you either into thinking it is just another run-of-the-mill thrift store. It is anything but that. Store owner Angela has her store filled with wonderful and beautiful antiques at great prices and some lovely collectibles too. Mixes in with the antiques and collectibles are also some very, very nice thrift store type items that are in excellent conditions. The prices in this store will amaze you and you will not be able to resist buying and taking home at least a few items from the great shop located on one of the main streets in the heart of downtown Lake Alfred, FL.
Thrifty Chix has the advantage of being located next door to another thrift store named Knick Knack Paddy Whack and it is less than a block away from Biggar's Antiques. There is also the superb Cornerstone Grill Restaurant located directly across the street from Thrifty Chix so make it a day of fun and come on over and shop 'til you drop and then eat some great food and shop some more. You won't be sorry that you did.

I don't ever write reviews but I wanted to rave about Nini's Place. My husband is a very picky eater but he loved the Pepper Steak soup with orzo, and his sirloin was cooked perfectly. I ordered the grilled fish with baked potato and a side salad. The fish was very flaky and tasted amazing, the baked potato was a good size, and the salad came with homemade croutons. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be going there again. Lake Alfred I hope you all know what a gem of a restaurant you have!

The broccoli is cooked and seasoned to perfection. The sweet baked beans are well seasoned also. The only thing I wasn't overly impressed with was the sweet plantains. I think they may have been cooked a little too long to where the sweet flavor dissipated a bit. Other than that, everything was wonderful and full of flavor

We observed how this location is following the cleaning and sanitizing the tables between usage. Great overall experience. ✅ seal of approval 💕 yes we will be back. We tried this restaurant on the advice of a coworker. We tried lasagna, hot roast beef sandwiches, cheeseburger sub, double cheeseburger and onion rings. Everything was really good. The lasagna was really nice. Good flavor and texture, nice amount of cheese, great portion size. We can’t wait until they get their pizza oven in!

The food is delicious! Do not let the surroundings fool you. We had mofongo with carne ahumada and mofongo with churrasco and both were excellent! Great service too. I wish I lived closer I would come every weekend!

quick bite supper. Surprisingly good. The salad was fresh, crisp and not over dressed. My husband had the chicken soup- the stock was rich and tasty full of tender chicken pieces and veggies. I had the lasagna it too was solid, full of cheeses and sauced just right. Husband had Rigatoni Martino with sausage and a creamy tomato sauce. It was delicious. Very nice for a chain restaurant...more like what you'd find in your neighborhood Italian place. Yum.

The in law had the conch fritters and loved them. The wife and I shared some alligator bites and I had the frog legs. Very tasty indeed. For our entree the wife had the smothered chicken dinner and the in law had the coconut chicken dinner and I had the seafood combo dinner. We all left the place talking about how wonderful our meals had been. The portions of food served were big. We had a great server named Leah who really made us feel welcome as if we had been there many times before. Great food, great staff and great place.
Definitely will be back.
