The best spot downtown Anchorage to get some delicious American food and locally brewed beer. Aside from Burgers, their halibut fish and chips, elk meatballs, and hummus app are incredible. Sit outside on their 2nd floor deck in the summertime and catch amazing views of the harbor.

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. They always have rotating flavors along with their usual like Beet and Moose on the Loose. Cute little shop that you should not pass by while walking around downtown.

Ah Humpy's! You'll see it in every Tourists Guidebook as places to visit while in Anchorage. It's definitely a place to check out and grab some fish and chips and a beer. Fun and easy going vibe inside. This isn't the place to go to for fine dining, so don't have high expectations. You'll have fun in here though and meet locals.

Another spot that is in every single guide book of must visit places in Anchorage! Out of downtown, heading South on Highway 1, but only like a 5 minute drive from the AirBnB. They have a fun firepit outside to hang out at while you wait for your table. And you will definitely wait. They don't take reservations so you have to show up and write your name down. It can be anywhere from a 20 to 45 minute wait for a table.

Sightseeing

Absolutely beautiful walk or run along the coast. You can either drive down here and park or just make your way down here while exploring the city. Have breakfast at Snow City Cafe and then enjoy a leisurely walk here. The trail itself goes South for somewhere around 16 miles so if you want a nice trail to do a long bike ride on, this is it!

Come here for some good skiiing/snowboarding/tubing. The drive up the mountain is pretty fun in itself with its curvy roads and scenic route. Make sure you have an AWD/4WD car though when coming in the winter! In the summer I believe you can do some mounta biking up here.

Pretty challenging hike in Anchorage! About 3 miles straight up the mountain so definitely not for beginners or kiddos. In July/August, the fields are full of blueberries and this is an amazing spot to go off the trail, sit in the blueberry patch and have some lunch while looking over the mountains and Anchorage down below. A little bit further down the road is the beginning of an 8-10 mile easy loop hike that takes you to a beautiful lake! That's a wonderful hike with dogs and kiddos.

Once you start making your way South, there is an abundant number of hikes and trails along Highway 1. Beluga Point promises views of Belugas if you come at the right time. Even if you don't see them, the views are already worth coming.

I love Alyeska Resort during every season. Come here in the summertime, spring or Fall and hike up to the bar on top of the mountain. Don't want to hike (it's a pretty difficult hike so you'll definitely earn your beer)??? No problem! Take the air tram up there. You should take the tram up at least once anyways for the absolutely incredible views. Amazing skiiing/snowboarding/tubing in the winter time. And if you don't want to do any of that, the spa and giant pool itself is worth the getaway.

The best thing about this conservation center is how well they take care of their animals. Come see them all in their natural habitats. The conservation center takes orphaned or injured animals and gives them a home. Most of them would not survive in the wild which is why this is a much better place to come visit than the zoo. Check the schedule on line before you come to plan for the bear feeding.

About 6 hours North of Anchorage lies Fairbanks, AK! Denali is in between Anchorage and Fairbanks. If you come here in the winter, be prepared for some serious cold weather and a lot of darkness. However, the Cena Hotsprings are a must to do in the winter time because nothing is more fun than sitting in a hotspring, while its -30F degrees outside, and watching your hair freeze. The town of North Pole is also here and you can visit Santa any day and any month. Fairbanks has A LOT of outdoorsy activities in the summer and winter time.
