There are so many great places to eat in and around Lynchburg. Here's a list of some of my favorites, plus the favorites of other locals taken from a poll on Facebook. Let me know if I can help you narrow down your search to a certain type of food or atmosphere!
Locally owned in Lynchburg since 1970! Rustic feel and affordable dining serving upscale food without being pretentious.... it's in a renovated barn! Delicious steaks! Definitely a town favorite. Reservations recommended.

Steak and seafood done right! We love this place and the owner's are local and super nice people. They have nightly specials, outdoor seating on their deck, live music, a great bar, and homemade desserts. Definitely worth a visit!

Great little downtown restaurant with indoor and patio dining. Open 7 days a week with brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Yummy martini bar! I love the Andes Mint Martini.

Can't go wrong with brick oven pizza and a great bar! I also love the Greek salad. In the heart of downtown, you can take a walk along the riverfront after you eat!

Great atmosphere downtown. No food, but you can bring your own or have something delivered. Benny Scarpetta's, NY-style pizzeria is right down the street with slices bigger than your face! Fun times!

Fine, upscale dining with a price tag to prove it, but my oh my! Celebrating a special occasion? This is the place! Mouth-watering steaks. This restaurant is downstairs in an old renovated hotel called The Virginian. Also try the rooftop bar (the only one in Lynchburg!). The Skyline Grill.... same chef, awesome city views, great bar, and a little friendlier on the wallet.

Local eatery since the early 90's. Great steaks, seafood and pretty much everything! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but that's one of the things I like best about it. Closed Sunday and Monday. About a 20 minute drive.

Feeling fancy? You will not be disappointed here! Reservations are a must! A 19th century B&B and an American classic restaurant in historic Appomattox - about a 30-minute drive, but worth it!

A plantation and plantation house designed by Thomas Jefferson and used as a private retreat. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1969 and designated as National Historic Landmark in 1971. It is currently operated as a museum and they conduct guided tours.

A historic landmark that commemorates Lynchburg citizens who fought and died in wars spanning from the Civil War to present day. There are sculptures and markers lining the 139 steps and terraces all the way to the top. The view from the monument is beautiful in all 4 seasons.

It was here where the Confederate army surrendered to the Union army marking the end of the 4-year war. It's a really interesting place to visit...a not-to-miss place for any history buffs!
