If history is your passion, this town offers landmarks, the U.S. Army Heritage & Education Center along with other museums, a performing arts theatre, and a Civil War augmented reality walking tour that allows you to use your smartphone or tablet to see history with new eyes! The town is also close to the Appalachian Trail which provides opportunities to escape into the great outdoors through hiking and also offers nearby biking trails throughout the town. Be sure to take part in tasting the unique flavors in the Carlisle area with their dine around the world experience and attending one of Carlisle's numerous car shows such as Corvettes at Carlisle.

Shippensburg

Scenic Shippensburg is a friendly and attractive college town in Cumberland Valley PA. Walk around the Shippensburg University, attend an art or music performance, or hike and bike the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail. Located on our county's western-most border, it is still just a short drive from many metro areas including Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

At the crossroads of Pennsylvania Routes 233, 641 and 533, rural Newville in Cumberland Valley is actually a very old town, with beautifully preserved historic homes, farms, churches and a landmark 1760 year old mill. This town is quite scenic, located on the Big Spring and close to the Conodoguinet Creek. There's a real old-time feeling of hospitality in this largely residential community, right on down to the Dogwood Acres Campground, where even Fido is welcome! Also, notable about this area are residents whose courageous actions in combat are depicted in the book and movie Black Hawk Down.
