Berri Uqam Subway is right outside the unit at the corner and has easy access to every part of the city. You can buy different subway bases which also give you access to the bus network with single day, weekly or monthly passes.
Google maps works great to give you directions to any address using public transit

A lot of places still use cash only. Always carry a few canadian dollars on you to avoid not being able to pay at certain locations around the city for coffee, baked goods, food, taxis etc.
