--You must book a reservation time. To save time, book in advance on-line. Same day ticket sales are available, but due to COVID capacity restrictions, they can sell out.

--In addition to the house, there are gardens, greenhouses, a winery (in Antler Hill Village) and many restaurants. Some people spend an entire day here--we recommend you plan for that.

Food scene
It's hard for a restaurant to survive in this town is it isn't good. So if a place has been in business for a couple years, it's probably good. That said, here are a few of our standbys.
Delicious, healthy fare. They are usually able to make changes to accommodate dietary needs. In an old house. Ideal for a lazy weekend breakfast. And not too far from the NC Arboretum if you're headed there.

A "cathead biscuit" is one that is the size of. . . you guessed it. And those are what they serve here. They're huge and they make entire meals out of them (e.g. with BBQ, fried green tomatoes, etc. . .), so go hungry.
We don’t like to wait in lines, thus we get there close to their opening time. If you go too much later, you’ll have to stand in a line that goes out the door and around the corner. (Their closest location is just 3 miles from us on Hendersonville Road. Though if you’re looking to visit West Asheville, that’s our favorite location.)

Two words: Liquid Truffle. It's like super thick hot chocolate -- so thick they serve it with a spoon! They have plenty of other delicious chocolatey options. Friday and Saturday nights they'll be lines out the door. So go during the day, or with someone you like talking to while waiting in lines:)

But for a different vibe, head over to Sierra Nevada. Yep, those same folks who started out in California chose Western NC as the location for their second brewery. And it's quite a site to behold! They have a great restaurant/taproom, plenty of outdoor space for eating and drinking, games outside and upstairs (for kids and adults). Just trust us. Go check it out. If you want a free tour of the brewing operation, book at least a month in advance. Or stop in to the tour office before heading into the Taproom and see if they have any cancellations.

We avoid I-26 as much as possible. If using Waze and they recommend you take it, usually they are right and the traffic is fine, but our suggestion is to look at the routes offered and choose the ones that don’t take you on I-26.
