This is our favourite restaurant within walking distance of the house. It overlooks the canal and the food is excellent and a superb wine list. Book a table by the window so you can see the swans in the Canal.

This is a very very funky place to while away an hour or two - there is a good selection of food, which is always delicious. Plenty of space here so easy enough to get seating.

The bread here (sourdough) in the morning has a queue out the door for it, and it really is that good. The pizza is also excellent.

This is a great value asian restaurant for a substantial lunch or dinner. It is casual dining where you order from the counter and grab a seat. The food is cooked fresh and there is a free ice-cream cone for dessert that you pull yourself from the machine (which can be quite amusing if you are not used to it!).

The Eatyard is a food market / event space next door to The Bernard Shaw. Eatyard’s aim is to elevate Irish Street Food to a new level and bring a unique casual dining experience to Dublin. You can rock up and grab food from one of the may vendors and grab a drink from the pub next door. It is very new and trendy, and a brilliant concept for Dublin.

This is our local bar only a few minutes walk from the house. It specialises in Craft Irish beer and a range of Irish Gins. Great for trying out a variety of both. Food is good old fashione bar grub and a reasonable price, although we would recommend Bastible or Locks for a food treat.

The George Bernard Shaw is a great, quirky pub with a buzzing atmosphere. And it is somewhere you go for more that a drink! There is an old bus out the back that does great pizzas, and probably the best gluten free base in Dublin. It also has regular flea markets so check out the website to see what is on. www.http://thebernardshaw.com/

Parks & Nature

This is the largest walled park in the whole of Europe and is well worth a visit. You can go to the Zoo there, take a picnic, or try to spot some of the many red deer that roam the park. If you are a runner, this is a great running route and not to be missed.

The Irish Museum of Modern Art is beautiful even just to go look at the garden. Inside if full of contemporary modern art. There is tiny, welcoming, very traditional Irish pub nearby called the Royal Oak to have a drink.
