Parks & Nature

Less than a ten-minute walk away, Lafontaine park is a large English-style landscaped park with a pond, tennis courts, basketball courts, an outdoor theatre. If you want to experience it like the locals, pick up some sandwiches at a local bakery, grab some wine, and go have a picnic on the banks of the pond. There are also running and walking trails throughout.

Food Scene

La Banquise gets a lot of press, but in my opinion Poutineville is the superior poutine restaurant in town. Choose one of the menu items, or build your poutine completely from scratch, with all sorts of toppings- even filet mignon! Whatever you choose, definitely try the smashed potatoes instead of regular fries. They're the house specialty and amazing.

Macbar takes two quebecois comfort-food staples- mac and cheese, and grilled cheese- and lifts them up to a higher level, offering dozens of flavour variations from the standard local (The Montrealais, with smoked meat) to the more unexpected (Tomato and Pesto; Habanero and Jalapeño). If you're a light eater, the portions are big enough to take half home- don't be afraid to ask for a to-go container!

Amazing bakery very conveniently located just two minutes away- they have fresh sandwiches made with their own bread, salads, and baked goods, as well a variety of packaged traditional Quebecois food products. Try their coffee sweetened with maple syrup.

Drinks & Nightlife

This asian street food fusion pub looks unassuming from the outside, but has a really funky interior. Go in the afternoon or early evening to enjoy a relaxing cocktail on the secret patio, or head over after 10pm most nights for a standing-room only crowd of house music enthusiasts. If you want a bite to eat, try the steamed buns stuffed with meat or tofu.
