One of Aucklands major developments, the Westfield Newmarket. Some shops are still not open but I believe plenty to see and do and eat. Newmarket has all of the majors shops you need or want.

Sightseeing
It is not everyday that you can say you've walked up a volcano.... this is a neat adventure for outdoorsy family. Prob 6years + then they can walk themselves up the hill. At the top you are rewarded with a stunning 360 degree view of Auckland city and the harbour that surrounds us. The rock formations and plants make it pretty interesting and is loaded with historic old cottages. It is rubbish free, so you need to pack your own lunch and a bag to take your rubbish back home with you.

A rugged wild west coast experience featuring black sand. It is a surreal place on a wild windy day or a picture perfect summers day. You really need a car to head out there for a fish n chips at sunset.

This place is an idyllic island paradise. More and more Aucklanders are living on the island so there are loads of lovely cafes and wineries.
You don't need a car, you can bus or bike around...

Stunning piece of New Zealand coastline, this breathtaking place is ideal for surfing, sunbathing or trying to spot native NZ birds.
It is about an hour from Auckland direct.. but there is plenty to see up that way. I would suggest stopping by Matakana on your way, and if you can do it on a Saturday morning you will catch the Matakana Markets... delicious food and coffee before you head off to the beach.
Omaha beach is also beautiful but busier with loads of holiday houses.
Goat Island Marine Reserve is another feature of the Rodney district, you can hire snorkel and mask to check out the sea life.

You can walk across the draw bridge to Wynyard quarter and there is another selection of restaurants but also an awesome playground for the kids. So a nice spot for everyone.
