Food Scene & Local Produce

Bruton High Street has plenty of shops worth visiting. For local food shopping the Budgens at Texaco garage is the closest for a mercy dash – we’d otherwise recommend you visit the Spar further along the High Street. Known locally as ‘Bill the Butcher’ and its owner, Bill’s son Phil, stocks local produce alongside everyday essentials - such as artisan cheeses and Charles Dowding’s award winning salad leaves (a must). Phil also sources many local and ethically reared meats, such as grass fed Angus beef and local free range chicken. Tel. 01749 812 388. Bruton Organic Wholefoods on the High Street stocks a range of fresh organic produce and some lovely specialist foods, such us locally made coconut milk Kefir and raw chocolate. Tel. 01749 814 811. At the Chapel on the High Street has its own on site bakery, serving daily artisan bread and pastries. Open from 8.00 am. Winery and Restaurant, including take-away wood oven fired pizza. https://atthechapel.co.uk/takeaway Tel. 01749 814 070 The Old Pharmacy wine bar and épicerie opened on the High Street in January 2021.
