Palazzo Vecchio is both the seat of the Municipality and a splendid museum open to the public. Here the Bus. Association organizes daily activities for families, by appointment, with children of different age groups, from 4 years upwards (in italian, english, french, spanish). At the Infopoint of the Museum it is also possible to rent a Family Kit (recommended for children from 6 years) with a map and other useful tools for a fun visit to the Palace by yourself (the kit is in italian, branch and english). www.musefirenze.it

The genius Leonardo da Vinci is the protagonist of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, an interesting, small museum located in the center of Florence, a few steps from the Duomo. The museum houses reconstructions of various civil, military and flight engineering projects developed by the Genius of the Renaissance, some of which were found in the famous Leonardo Codes. Several machines present in the museum itinerary are interactive and this is certainly the most fun aspect for children, even children who will be able to directly experience the functioning of reproductions. Next to each machine you will find a detailed description that will allow you to understand its use and possibly even explain it to your children (or it will be the other way around)!!.

Among the museums for children I can not fail to mention the Museum of Natural History which actually includes 6 sections located in different locations (but always in the historic center). In the Geology section (in via La Pira 4) you will see lots of italian fossils (and not only) retracing the evolution of life on earth starting from the oldest evidence of 3,5 billion years ago. You will certainly be impressed by the collection of skeletons of some animals found in the Valdarno area, including the elephant "Pietro", so it was nicknamed, 4 meters high. The Specola Museum (via Romana 17) is the oldest scientific museum in Europe and preserves collections of animals (stuffed animals) numerous skeletons in the Salone deli Scheletri on the first floor (open on special occasions or by appointment with guided tours) and the beautiful Tribune of Galileo, dedicated to the scientist and decorated with splendid frescoes. Are your children passionate about archeology? Then you could take them to visit the National Archaeological Museum MAF where they will find Egyptian mummies, Etruscan sarcophagi and Roman sculptures.
