The historical centre of Ragusa, called 'Ragusa Ibla', is a must visit! You can have a lovely time just walking around the rambling streets and finishing up with an aperitivo in the main square. The famous show 'Inspector Montelbano' was often filmed here.

If you go to the main piazza in Niscemi you should then walk to Belvedere to check out the view across the plains. This is where everyone in the town comes to go for a walk most evenings. During the day it is not very busy. But during the evening (from about 6 in the evening till 11 in the evening) you will see many locals out walking.

Our favourite local beaches
These are beaches that we go to for day trips from Niscemi.
This is one of our favourite beaches because it is usually so clean and pristine. We like to go a little north of the busy section of the beach where it is always less busy and the beach is free. It takes about an hour to drive here from Niscemi. Take the road that goes via Acate and Comiso. There is an amazing windy road up the mountain above Comiso that has great views on the way.

Marina di Modica
This is one of our favourite beaches because it is usually so clean and pristine. We like to go a little north of the busy section of the beach where it is always less busy and the beach is free. It takes about an hour to drive here from Niscemi. Take the road that goes via Acate and Comiso. There is an amazing windy road up the mountain above Comiso that has great views on the way.
This small beach town is about a 30 minute drive from Niscemi. We come here when we don’t feel like driving all the way to Modica. You can also find great seafood restaurants here.
