Very tasty menu, uses seasonal and local products. Great selection of wines. Highly recommend it, always better to call in advance and reserve a table. They are super friendly and Caterina, the owner's daughter, speaks really good english.

Typical Tuscan trattoria, really close to the central market (mercato centrale). Famous with locals and tourists alike, a tasty traditional menu that changes according to the season. No reservations are taken, the best way to eat here is to get here early, if the place is full you will have to put down your name on a list and wait for your turn!

Absolutely the best schiacciata in town. This place is actually a bit outside of the city, the road to get to Chiesanuova is beautiful and passes through the Florentine countryside. This is a small town shop that closes at lunch time, so you want to get there a bit before 1 pm, and order your schiacciata which you can fill up with any of the goodies on display. Nice stop for a quick lunch on a sunny day on the way to visit the Florentine countryside.

If you want really good thin crust pizza, head over to this pizzeria and you won't be disappointed. They've been in business for more than 20 years, and have an extensive list of pizzas on their menu. All of the ingredients are super fresh, and they also have a non pizza menu if you're with someone who's not in the mood. It is best to reserve a table, especially over the weekend.

You want the real Florentine street food? Head on over to Porta Romana and it's famous "trippaio", and have a taste of all the typical goodies either in a panino or as a plate. The classics are trippa alla fiorentina (tripe with tomato and parmesan), bollito misto (mixed boiled cuts of meat), and spezzatino (meat stew cooked for hours). They also serve lingua (tongue) and poppa (breast), they are as yummy as the rest and you can even mix the two. Make sure to ask for the "salsa verde", a delicious green parsley sauce that enhances the flavours, and "piccante" (spicy) if you're in for the whole ride.
