In 1990, John Rossignol left Ontario to build a house in Little Sands, Prince Edward Island, which is now known as The Rossignol Winery. Wine making to John’s surprise brought out creative energy in him. John found himself able to experiment with different methods, as well as creating new mixtures of grapes and other fruit into wonderful tasting wine. Not only was this hobby fun, John would be the first commercial winery on the Island; and so began Rossignol Winery. The winery produces a variety of table wines and fruit wines which are made from local produce.

Jean Pierre Roma, a visionary French businessman, sailed three boats to the future Roma Site in June 1732. Roma and his men set to work and within a few years his crew had cleared 200 acres and had constructed nine buildings as part of Roma's plan … an international trade centre. Roma's boats transported dried cod, trade goods and alcohol along a network between France, the West Indies, Fortress Louisbourg and Quebec. And Roma's crew constructed many of PEI's first roads connecting his Site with St Peters Bay and Port La Joye and many other locations. Roma's Site lasted only 13 years when in July 1745 it was burned to the ground by British Privateers. 276 years have passed since the burning and sacking of Roma's Settlement in 1745. In recognation of this sad event, the Great Escape of 1745 Festival will be held on **July 31, August 7 &14. Additionally on **July 31st the Three Rivers Arts and Cultural Festival will be staged at the Roma Site.

Once known as the market center of the city, the original Victoria Row was destroyed by the "Great fire" of 1866. Victoria Row today is a summertime pedestrian walkway with restaurants, cafes and gift shops in awe-inspiring brick buildings. It's delightful to hang out here, and sometimes you even have a chance to listen to live music.

Located at Milltown Cross, on Route 4, 6 km south of Montague, Buffaloland Park is open to the public 7 days a week. The grassy path leads to a wooden deck where display pedestals provide information about buffalo. The deck overlooks a 100-acre enclosure where the herd of 43 of these large and wonderous animals graze. The American buffalo is a massive horned woolly ruminant native to North America—a descendant of one of the great Pleistocene giants that wandered across the Bering Strait land bridge during the last Ice Age. Our buffalo history dates back to 1973 when the Province of Alberta gifted the Province of Prince Edward Island a herd of prairie buffaloes in honour of the Island’s centennial celebrations.

Drinks & Nightlife

Check out their tunes on tap every Sunday afternoon and weekend music lineup on Facebook. Copper Bottom Brewing is a craft brewery owned by husband and wife team Ashley Condon & Ken Spears, who share a passion for craft beer and music spanning more than a decade. Their passion for craft beer started in 2003 when Ken was hired to sell six-packs out of the back door of Propeller Brewing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Over the next 14 years, Ken would spend his time developing recipes and turning his brewing obsession into a plan to open a craft brewery in Montague, known as Copper Bottom Brewing. Together, the husband and wife duo remain firmly rooted in the belief that building a brewery is just as important as building a community gathering spot, somewhere locals can gather, meet new friends, and experience world-class entertainment - all while enjoying an award-winning beer.

We started this brewery with one goal in mind: to make a world-class beer and a comfortable space for our community to enjoy it. We wanted to create a brewery for the town of Montague that beer lovers could enjoy with their friends, a place where you could feel at home. We didn’t do this alone - we’ll be the first to say that many local people have supported this vision and contributed in important ways, big and small. That’s what makes Bogside, Bogside. We’re a community. A way of life. Be local. Be cool. Be kind. Make a difference. Make it yours. Great food, local music.

The Wheelhouse is a destination restaurant in Georgetown that features local produce as well as fresh seafood from local fishermen—a stunning patio on the water and nautical mile-sourced fish. Local fishermen deliver daily. On our visit, the Chef created an off-the-menu special for us because he had a halibut tail on site. The smoked meal that fed 4 of us. Fantastic meal and delicious cocktails. Get the bourbon iced tea cocktail. Must stop location, and we will visit again in our week trip. Local beach nearby to make a full day trip. (past customer)
