Marpissa is a traditional Cycladic village, with whitewashed cubic houses, standing among narrow streets, churches and windmills.The main village is car free. For traditional family Greek food, Charoula's tavern (located at the heart of the village) is the right choice for you.Just few steps away is "The Folklore Museum" (no fee to enter, for opening hours just call +30 22840 41217). To the east of Marpissa is the monastery of Saint Antonios (16th century). It is built at the top of the hill of Kefalos. The Monastery is one of the most historic and picturesque shrines of the island. You can also take the old road take water with you) or by car.. The view is breathtaking

The combination of nature and traditional elements of Cyclades islands gives it an exquisite charm. Note that you will need to leave your car in the parking area surrounding the village. The main village is car free. A walk in the traditional settlement will demonstrate the uniqueness of Lefkes. The white houses, the white-washed pavements and the small yards with colorful flowers is like a snapshot to the older days. There are a lot of taverns and cafe where you can taste delicious traditional plates.

Golden Beach (Chrissi Akti) is a long well organized golden sandy beach extending for 700 meters, famous by windsurfers for its ideal wind conditions .It got its name from the fine sand, which has glass elements in it and provides a sparkling effect during sunshine. it has various points of access, all very easy. Can also be reached by bus. Please note, that it is very difficult to find shadow on the beach but you can bring your own umbrella and there are several sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, At the beach, several surf schools, beach-bars and small, traditional restaurants can be found. It is really popular for water sports but it's also a great spot to swim and walk along the beach.

Arts & Culture

The church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani is located few metres from the port of Parikia, the capital of Paros. This is one of the best-preserved Paleo-Christian monuments in Greece. According to the legend, the original church was constructed by Saint Constantine, first Emperor of Constantinople, after the offering of his mother, Saint Helene. During her journey to the Holy Land to search for the Holy Cross, a storm brought Saint Helene in Paros, where she promised to the Virgin to build a church if her quest were successful. This church was built by her son Constantine after her death and it was dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. The original church was constructed in the 4th AC.
