It's the waterfront, they have exhibitions in the old silos, sometimes markets and events / live music etc, there are kids playgrounds dotted all over the area and interactive artworks. Along the 'Wynyard Quarter' there are tons of waterfront restaurants, mostly good quality too. Nice on a sunny day.

Beautiful old city park - a nice walk - lovely spots to sit in the shade (or sun). Access from Ponsonby road (good shopping area). fantastic kids playground at the bottom of the park.

Great collection of modern (and old) New Zealand Art plus changing exhibitions. Usually has a fantastic family room with changing artists every 6 months and family workshops / interactive exhibition. Good cafe in the building too.

New Zealand history and natural history - fantastic kids section also beautiful grounds / park areas - tree climbing and 'Winter' garden. Good food at the Winter Garden Cafe too with outdoor seating in the Domain (and an icecream stop too for kids).
