Breakfast is my favourite meal, and the Breakfast Club is one of the best places to eat. It's lively, has a great menu and does a wicked Bloody Mary.

Japanese noodle bar - HIghly recommended. They do a good weekday lunchtime deal, and there is another branch in Mare Street, Central Hackney.

A lovely cafe just at the end of my street. Set up by Russell Brand after he worked with the people from the New Era housing estate to save it from developers. Great coffee, organic food, lovely juices and friendly atmosphere

A mixture of Turkish and Arabic influences, great for meat eaters and vegetarians, lots of good reviews, not the cheapest but apparently well worth it. Highly recommended by quite a few of my guests

I've included this bar in the Sightseeing section as it is so Olde World English - a 19th-century wine bar in candlelit, vaulted cellars with original Dickensian-style decor. Even if you don't drink alcohol, it's worth a look. Great cheese platters. Very busy on weeknights especially in the summer but less busy on the weekends.
