This is one of our favorites. The restaurant is a tad small but well worth the wait if there is a line! Excellent burgers (cow, bison, portabella, or chicken ). Or just go for appetizers and drinks! I recommend the fried pickles or the raspberry, black bean dip . They also have a drink called the Nancy, which is beer and pineapple juice...and pretty yummy.

Excellent atmosphere, excellent food, and wonderful cocktails. A more modern craft cocktail restaurant located in Downtown Manhattan (about a mile away).

Drinks & Nightlife

Auntie Mae's is one of the local's favorite bars in town and is only 2 blocks from the house. Auntie Mae's is a partial basement bar that was Manhattan's own speakeasy during the prohibition era. The bar has low ceilings but comes with great atmosphere and has local beers on tap along with craft cocktails. They also are one of the few bars that feature live music. Check out the website for show schedules. http://www.auntiemaes.com/

Harry's is arguably the nicest restaurant in town. The atmosphere is classy, food is superb, but it's their craft cocktails I go for! They are open until 10:00pm on the weekends and this place is worth going to just to have a drink at the bar. My personal favorite is their Sidecars. Harry's is located in the downtown area so its about a mile walk.

Parks & Nature

The Konza Prairie has 3 loop hiking trails located in the beautiful Flint Hills, on a natural tallgrass reserve located off of McDowell Creek road (about a 10 minute drive from the house). The nature preserve is actually a biological research site operated by Kansas State University and is open to the public. Due to the research/preserve status, dogs are not permitted. The loops are •Nature Trail - 2.6 miles •Kings Creek Loop - 4.6 miles •Godwin Hill Loop - 6.2 miles All are great for trails running or just a day hike! (Don't let the first hill scare you, that's the only big one on the trails). http://keep.konza.k-state.edu/visit/index.html

This is the best dog friendly hiking (very light) location in town! There are two parking lots that are the trail heads and ends for two different loops ( first on the left and the second is a bit father down the road on the right). The park is dog friendly and the rules state that all dogs should be on leash. However most walkers that have their dogs under voice control have their dogs off leash.
