The Regent is a couple of minutes round the corner. There are comfortable sofas, quirky decor and relaxed ambiance in a gay bar serving guest ales and also tasty pub food. Everyone is welcome, including dogs!

Holyrood Park is literally on the doorstep and is a wonderful place to walk, jog or enjoy the fresh air and views. It has a 5 mile radius and has been a royal park since the 12th century. It is full of hills, lochs, glens and cliffs providing a haven of wild landscape right in the city. In the middle is Arthur's Seat - Edinburgh's famous hill which you can climb up to experience spectacular views of the city.

Sightseeing

You can visit the Scottish Parliament Building Monday to Saturday for free and without booking, although you might need to book for guided tours and to attend debates. There's a cafe and there is also a creche for children under 5 which you can use while you look round the Parliament.
