The best Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh (in our opinion anyway). Walking distance from the flat but also offers a delivery service. There is a small restaurant on the premises too if you prefer to sit in.

If you just want a good old-fashioned chippy, the Gorgie Fish Bar is the best one in the area. It's only a 10-minute walk down the road but they'll also deliver if you order via Just Eat.

The Fountain Park complex is only a 10-minute walk along the road and has plenty to offer, including family-friendly restaurants (Frankie & Bennys, Chiquitos, Pizza Hut and Nando's), a bowling alley, an amusement arcade, a trampoline park for the kids (Gravity) and a multi-screen cinema.

Sightseeing

A castle right in the heart of the city centre. Even if you don't go inside, it's worth walking up the Royal Mile and onto the castle esplanade, where you'll get great views of the city down below.

The Union Canal is only a five minute walk up the road and can be accessed via Harrison Park. In one direction, it offers a more scenic walk along to Fountain Park, while in the other direction you can head further out of town where it eventually joins the nature trails on the Water of Leith. Watch out for cyclists!
