Just a short 5 minute walk is our local coffee shop run by our friend Kari Kemp! Kari has lived her life on the River and knows what's going on everywhere. Tell her Tony sent you for some extra love. The best scones I've had!

A beautiful coastal drive! Schedule a "tour." It includes a how-to-shuck-an-oyster tutorial, a dozen oysters and reserves a table(the real hard to get)! You'll have the freshest oysters possible.

While the 30th best 9 hole golf course in the world, per Golf.com, is a draw. The Northwood Lodge Restaurant and Bar is worth the trip. They serve locally sourced home cooking. And it's only a 5 minute walk from Nine Trees.

Bodega is the city where Hitchcock's "The Birds" was filmed. The Potter School is located at 17110 Bodega Ln Bodega, CA. Check out the General Store in town. Most tourists have a wonderful seafood dinner looking over Bodega Bay at the Tides Restaurant, where the diner was in the movie. If you drive around Bodega Bay to the commercial fishing dock you can get clam chowder and fresh crab melt sandwiches, from Anello's or Spud Point. Keep driving around the bay and you'll have an amazing roadside view of gulls, seals and pelicans to enjoy your lunch.

Kayak at where the Russian River flows into the Pacific ocean. It's not uncommon to see seals. And anyone not interested in kayaking can enjoy the view, watching you and food at Cafe Aquatica.

Sightseeing

Calistoga at the North end of the Napa Valley is unique because long before the Europeans discovered it, Native Americans soaked in the natural mineral hot springs and use the volcanic ash to take therapeutic mud baths. Just after the Gold Rush, Calistoga became the "Saratoga of the West" and has been a health destination ever since. A beautiful 1 hour from Nine Trees, taking a mud bath is a great way to start or end your day of wine tasting. I've visited Dr. Wilkenson's, the newly renovated "grand-daddy" of resorts. The staff and facilities are courteous and fresh! You can also use any of the three pools: a heated mineral spring pool, a heated saltwater pool and a cool saltwater pool!

While there are no signs and no entrance, it is possible to see into Skywalker Ranch for a photo-op if you follow these directions: Follow US-101 South to Lucas Valley Rd in San Rafael. Take exit 456 from US-101 S 30 min (32.2 mi) Turn left (west) onto Lucas Valley Rd for 5.3 miles. You’ll see a Big Rock on the south side of the road and roadside parking. Walk up to the Big Rock and look north. That is Skywalker Ranch. A hiking trailhead around Skywalker Ranch is on the north side of the road. Stay on the trail. Failure to do so can get you arrested for trespassing.

No photo says "I was in San Francisco” more than a photo from the Marin Headlands through the Golden Gate Bridge with the TransAmerica Pyramid and San Francisco skyline in the background. Follow US-101 S to Alexander Ave in Marin County. After the Robin Williams Memorial Tunnel and BEFORE the Golden Gate bridge, take exit 442 from US-101 S. Take Bunker Rd and McCullough Rd to Conzelman Rd. There are plenty of senic pull outs on your drive up to park. In my opinion though, Hawk Hill(photo above) at the end of a hike at the very top has the best view.

Neighborhoods

If you are travelling through Sebastopol, I highly recommend putting "Florence Ave, Sebastopol, CA" in your GPS. Besides being a shortcut to bypass most traffic in downtown Sebastopol, the real draw is the huge amount of artwork from local "Junk Sculptor" Patrick Amiot and his wife, Brigitte Laurent. Visit his site at patrickamiotDOTcom.
