Within walking distance from the Airbnb and locally owned, this coffee shop has great unique items like their Mexican Mocha if you like a slight spice kick in your coffee. Or the Flaming Mocha if you’re interested in a healthy amount of spice added.

Incredible Lebanese restaurant in the bustling 2nd street area (restaurants and nightlife). Usually there is a wait, but it is well worth it! Definitely start with garlic potatoes as a starter to share with the table. You can’t go wrong with any main dish, but we love the shawarma. For dessert, the cheesecake with figs is unbeatable.

A trendy local restaurant located inside a converted house. The food here is great and the vibe even better.

Located in the trendy and beautifully maintained “2nd & PCH” shopping area, with several restaurants, a Whole Foods, and other boutique shops. Ola is an amazing sit-down Mexican restaurant with an expansive list of margaritas to pick from. Our favorite is the Punta Negra margarita, made with blackberries. For dinner, 2-3 tacos per person usually fills us. Be sure to include an order of rice and beans for the table (serves 4 people easily) to round out the meal.

Fun restaurants. Trendy shopping. Movie theater. Ice cream. All on the waterfront. What’s not to like? Make a half-day out of this. Our favorite movie theater is here (Cinemark) where every seat reclines electronically and the stadium seating ensures no obstruction to your view of the projection screen. Be sure to walk to the lighthouse (you can walk right up to the base of it), explore the dockside restaurant options along the marina full of boats and walk through the outdoor shopping area. There is a Ferris wheel for a fun elevated view of the waterfront. You may notice the pedestrian bridge over the road (with blinking lights at night) resembles a roller coaster. This is an homage to the old roller coaster in the area that was historically there.

A beautifully maintained ship from World War II. This ship returned soldiers from Europe and today functions as a hotel that never leaves the port. Take a step back in time by visiting the ship or even spending a night there!

An impressive aquarium to visit. There’s a Penguin Encounter you can also sign up for, which (for a price) allows you to sit next to the penguins as they waddle outside their habitat (before the aquarium opens) in a private animal encounter! Note that 48hr advanced booking is required for the Penguin Encounter.
