An area with many different bars and restaurants in the centre of the Old Town. You can spend an entire evening (or weekend) bar hopping in this area. The 34 bus near the house will take you to stop - USHER HALL - which is around a 10 minute walk from this area. Or on a nice day you can walk all the way there in around 45 minutes.

Princes Street is the main shopping street in the city with branches of many of the UK national stores like Marks and Spencers, Primark, Next, Zara etc. George St which is parallel to Princes St has more high end and unique shop (especially towards its east end in St Andrews Square where Harvey Nicks, Louie Vuitton etc ) Excellent views of the castle at both day and night time.

During the Scottish league season (August-May) there will be a game roughly every second weekend and also some midweek evenings. If there is a game on when you are in town please ask if you would be interested to go. I can give you information and help on buying tickets. On non matchdays the club store, museum and award winning Skyline restaurant are open. 15 minute walk from the house.

The parks highest point is Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcano, and sits 251m above sea level giving excellent view of the city; Within the park you can also visit St Anthony’s Chapel - a 15th century medieval chapel, Salisbury Crags – a series of 150 foot cliff faces dominating Edinburgh’s skyline

Lothian Buses

Lothian Buses have an extensive network throughout the city. Transport for Edinburgh app will give you detailed information about routes and bus times. However if you would like to navigate to a certain place Google Maps is generally accurate for giving you the best public transport routes with live bus times. You can pay by contactless card on board. The amount you pay will automatically stop at the price of a day ticket (£4.50) if you make 3 or more journeys. One adult single ticket is £1.80. Can also pay by cash on board but no change will be given so bring exact fare.

Edinburgh museums - free entry

Museums and many art galleries in Edinburgh are free entry for everyone. Some highlights include The National Museum of Scotland, National Gallery of Scotland and the Museum of Childhood.
