FUN THINGS TO DO

Not your grandma's gas station, Buc-ee's won a national contest for the cleanest restrooms in America in 2012. (The restrooms have an attendant on duty 24-7 to make sure they're clean.) The Disney World of gas stations, Buc-ee's features 104 fueling stations and approximately 55,000 square feet of convenience store shopping. The store is split into the gift side, which features items such as clothing, home décor, and sporting goods; and the food service/traditional convenience store side.  Shelves are filled with Buc-ee's products: Beaver Nuggets; 22 types of fudge made in house; more than 20 types of jerky; Beaver Chips (potato chips); popcorn balls; chocolate rocks; powder candy; and Buc-ee's bandanas, boogie boards, windbreakers, wine glasses, and beaver onesies ― for both adults and children.  And yes there's coffee, drinks, and prepared foods too. There are more than 70 flavors of fountain drinks and 12 varieties of Icees. Because Buc-ee's is focused on a family experience, it isn't offering fuel for 18-wheelers at the facility in the World Golf Village neighborhood of St. Augustine - just off Interstate 95

St. Augustine Nights of Lights runs nightly from late November (after Thanksgiving) through January 31. St. Augustine's Nights of Lights 2022-2023 is celebrating 29 years of bringing joy to our community and visitors. Nights of Lights is only made possible by dozens of individual participating businesses who light up their homes and businesses which draws more than one million visitors annually from around the world. Once a year when the air turns cool and fills with the tinkling of silver bells, St. Augustine transforms after sunset into a romantic enclave with an ethereal glow. From the massive branches of moss-covered oaks to the angled roofs with Spanish tiles, tiny white lights stitch together the city of St. Augustine, highlighting every detail of the town’s unique beauty. You haven’t experienced St. Augustine until you’ve ridden along the cobblestone streets in a horse-drawn carriage beneath that soft glow. This year’s Nights of Lights celebration will begin after sundown on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the annual Light Up Ceremony will culminate with the official flipping of the switch, igniting over three million lights city wide. Named by AAA as one of the 12 best places in the U.S. and Canada to experience Christmas cheer, this is an event you can’t afford to miss. Following the lighting ceremony, the 1740 color guard will escort the mayor and his guests to the annual Holiday Lightning Gala inside the historic Lightner Museum. This special event includes dinner, dancimg and silent auction. Light Up Night is one of the most special evenings in St. Augustine each year, we hope you’ll be able to join us for the festivities! If not, the lights will remain lit through January 31st, giving you plenty of time to make your plans for a special visit!

STATE PARKS / DOG PARKS

More than 1,600 acres of unspoiled beaches, tidal marshes, maritime hammocks and ancient sand dunes make this a captivating destination for visitors. Domestic pets are permitted in designated day-use areas in most Florida State Parks. For the most up-to-date information, please contact the park directly. Pets must be kept on a handheld leash that is six feet or shorter and be well-behaved at all times. Pet owners are required to pick up after their pets and properly dispose of their droppings. Pets are not permitted on beaches or playgrounds, or in bathing areas, cabins, park buildings or concession facilities. Individual parks may have specific areas prohibiting pets. Park areas will be evaluated, as to the suitability of pets, on a periodic basis as part of the unit management planning process. Areas of the park designated as prohibited for pets shall be determined based on park natural and cultural resources, primary recreational activities, camper and pet health and safety, geographical location and layout of camping areas, and the ability to provide a quality recreational experience for all visitors.
