Food scene
A few ideas for restaurants while you are in our city.
Barracks Row has tons of great food options. Our favorites are Matchbox, Ted’s Bulletin and Lavanga. All three are family friendly casual dining with really good food. Matchbox has great pizza and salads. Ted's is a stepped up diner famous for homemade poptarts and adult milkshakes. Lavagna is a rustic Italian restaurant. http://www.barracksrow.org/on-the-row/restaurants

My best tip for D.C. travel is to contact your Member of Congress or Senator (just call the number on their website for the Washington Office) and ask for a tour of the Capitol and any other tours they can set up for you. White House Tours are hard to get, but your Member of Congress is the one to ask for help with that. (It doesn’t matter which party they are.). They may also be able to help with other hard to get tours like the Supreme Court and Library of Congress. The Smithsonians are free and do not require reservations. Lastly, the monuments are beautiful at night.
