EDNA closed at the onset of the COVID19 Pandemic in March 2020, but we are hopeful that it will re-open soon. In the meantime, check out the cafe next door called, Jane's Next Door for great treats and prepare-at-home-meals. EDNA is a gem of a restaurant. Food is local, seasonal and prepared to perfection. The cocktails and wine selection are wonderful. The best staff - friendly and kind. This is a neighbourhood highlight.

Sightseeing
It’s obvious why this strategic hilltop location with a commanding view of the Halifax harbour was chosen in 1749 for the fort destined to protect the city. The Halifax Citadel’s star shaped architecture is equally as impressive from the inside and out. Step back in time with the 78th Highlanders and the 3rd Brigade Royal Artillery to learn what it was like for the soldiers and their families to live and work in this historic fort.

The new library opened in December 2014 and has become a highly popular gathering place. In addition to a book collection significantly larger than that of the former library, the new building houses a wide range of amenities including cafés, an auditorium, and community rooms. The striking architecture is characterised by the fifth floor's cantilever over the entrance plaza, a central atrium criss-crossed by staircases, and the building's transparency and relationship to the urban context.
