This amazing spot serves inventive and delicious pizza (you will never imagine loving honey and pistachios on a white pizza until you try the “Emily”pie), sublime burgers (a limited number made daily), outstanding chicken wings, and beautiful salads. It’s worth at least one dinner or weekend brunch during your stay. But please plan ahead because it gets very crowded.

This is usually where our guests wind having a bite should they arrive early (it’s just a few doors away from us) or where they eventually land on a lazy night, or where we’ve broken bread with guests when we decide to share an evening out together. It’s great food and a great atmosphere. We’re lucky to find this excellent restaurant right at the corner of our block!

This place is famous for their AMAZING ice cream sandwiches but I also have equally enjoyed their other dessert items and pastries. Everything is created and baked on the premises and you’ll find unusual and tasty items like their peach gorgonzola scone. Also great coffee and nice place to sit and get some laptop work done. One of my favorites!

For many years this was “Sister’s Hardware” and one day I looked up and it was this cool skylit eatery. The Sisters space is genuinely unusual and objectively awesome-looking, from the ceilings to the black brick walls to the massive white wood and marble bar that takes up the front room. And during the day, the huge skylight that lets in tons of natural light. This place is straight up PRETTY. But the food, which includes fresh, solid takes on the usual suspects like kale, burger, mac and cheese et al, is pretty good as well. At night, a DJ takes over in the back room, and the whole space turns into more of a bar and general place of drinking and hanging out. Hanging out can also happen here during the daytime - chill vibes and pretty people fill this place at all hours.

MeMe’s Diner has an irresistible charm. You’ve might find this out for yourself as you dig into your Buffalo-chicken salad while unconsciously tapping your foot to Aged in Harmony’s “You’re a Melody.” It’s also evident in the design: trendy mid-century modern, with brown-leather banquettes and sparsely decorated white walls, that’s uncluttered in a way that makes space for the diners. Which fits into their particular emphasis on being welcoming. The owners of the Prospect Heights spot earnestly call it a queer restaurant (and host Queer Industry Nights), and MeMe’s also seems to, count nearly every young writer who lives in or around the neighborhood among its fans. But it’s not just through the warm service that the restaurant extends this sense of welcome. It’s also through the comfort-oriented and sometimes retro food they serve, like the greasy patty melt and fried pickles made interesting again through the use of giardiniera. There’s a cake stand that’s always home to something good, like peanut-butter pie or coconut cake, and cocktails like a delightfully gingery, citrusy Rum Punch. (NY Magazine)

Open since 1936, Tom's successfully traffics in old-school Brooklyn nostalgia and delivers good, greasy-spoon cooking just three blocks from the Brooklyn Museum. It’s the quintessential American diner experience. Breakfast is served all day and it’s a deal, with most items costing less than $10. Copious wall signs advertise specials – the blueberry-ricotta pancakes with lemon zest are unrivaled and my personal favorite. If you want to try a NYC classic, order an egg cream (milk, soda with chocolate syrup) or a famous Cherry Lime Rickey. Lines are loooong for weekend brunch, but don't despair: this place has the unique distinction of a line that’s actually fun to wait on, thanks to the neighborly vibe and free coffee, cookies, and orange slices handed out by the warm and friendly staff. Eventually landing a seat at one of the formica tables inside is the goal, though, and a meal in the dining room still feels like a throwback. Tom’s is the kind of endangered place New Yorkers need to protect, starting with a basic visit for buttered toast, coffee, good vibes, and good will.

Located on the edge of Fort Greene and Downtown Brooklyn lies a 30-acre park that dates back to the Revolutionary War. Fort Greene Park is Brooklyn’s oldest park and it has centuries of history to its name. It’s a great place for expertise or to take your dog for daily off-leash hours from 9PM -9AM. The park also houses tennis courts, a basketball court, two playgrounds, and an area used for playing soccer among lots of lush greenery and trees. It’s very beautiful. You can bring a picnic blanket or plan to use one of the picnic tables that dot the area.

The stunning skyline views of Manhattan, the bridges, and the Statue of Liberty is just one of the many reasons not to miss this stunning 85-acre sustainable park in Brooklyn’s east shoreline. The park revitalizes Brooklyn’s industrial waterfront and is not just gorgeous but includes soooo many wonderful things to do for adults and families. We have boat launches, Pebble Beach, soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, a roller rink, a fishing station, the historic Jane’s Carousel (a beautiful vintage model encased in glass and right on the water)and so much more. The playground here is not your average. It includes a “Water Lab” with jets, smooth boulder rocks, and a water channel, “Slide Mountain (a climbing structure with fast slides), “Sandbox Village” (the biggest sandbox in Brooklyn replete with pioneer village), and “Swing Valley” with swings, Tarzan ropes, and six seaters. On Sundays you can enjoy the Brooklyn Flea (an open air market and city favorite) which adds not just amazing local artisan and vintage shopping, but also offers and outstanding gourmet truck food experience to add to the already exceptional dining in the area. I hope you make a point not to miss this experience!
