I love thrifting when on vacation, so I have to recommend our local thrift store. I've found some beautiful fabric here, as well as small pieces of furniture that were well loved but unique. Their prices are good, and the owner supports community members who are down on their luck. You can't beat a good mission!

Activities
One of my favorite places to take visitors! This CA State Park is breathtaking, with century-old Redwoods that ascend sky-high. They have a range of easy to difficult hikes and are definitely family friendly (little ones and seniors can handle the flat trails). It's a mostly shaded park, so it's nice to escape to on the hotter days.

Rio Nido Pool at the Rio Nido Roadhouse is a fun way to cool off without going to the River. The pool entry fee is affordable, and they have a lawn with shaded Adirondack chairs to lounge while not swimming. You can order food from the pool's shack or from the Roadhouse if you're looking for something more than hot dogs or nachos. The pool is not heated and tends to run a little cold, but at least you'll beat the heat!
