A beautiful boardwalk along the soundside in Duck. Amazing place to take in the sunset. Shops and restaurants periodically along the boardwalk - which is not a traditional boardwalk in any way.

This is the inlet the fishing boats use to pass from the Atlantic into the sound. If you want to do some charter fishing, this is where you will leave from to go out to the Gulf Stream.
A new favorite day trip is to go down to the last parking area before the bridge to see the wreck of the Ocean Pursuit. This is a 75 foot boat that shipwrecked in Spring of 2020 and is slowly sinking into the sand. Lots of fun to climb on.
On your way there, you will pass by Bodie Island Lighthouse if you want to make it a two stop day trip.

This is an amazing spot in nearby Duck to have dinner and watch the sun set over the sound. Great place bring a dozen crabs some beer and some great people together in one place. Walk off your meal on the beautiful Duck boardwalk afterwards.

Where to go when you yearn to see the sun setting over water. It's just a couple of minutes away from the house, and the best close place to go to "see what's on the other side of the island." You will start wondering about that on the fourth or fifth day.
This is also a great place to take kids swimming if the ocean has a couple of days of being too rough for them.
