Arts & Culture

Right in the heart of Celbridge - a beautiful walk along the unspoilt banks of the River Liffey, stumbling across magnificent views of the Palladian style period Grand House "Castletown House"...walking to it across the park, taking a tour inside it if you fancy, or just having a coffee/ tea/ snack in the converted kitchens. And walk home via Celbridge village. Wonderful! Great for strolling or jogging - and "just down the road". And a tour around the Grand House is worth it too.

Getting Around

A five minute walk from the house - and then 21 minutes to Heuston station in Dublin city centre. Most venues are reached via the city centre - transportation brings you in to the centre and from there to wherever you want to go. Houston is on one of the two main transportation lines (Connolly being the other).

Parks & Nature

almost on our doorstep (10 minutes walk at most), the canal with its colourful barges and its local pub, is well worth a visit (or a pint with the locals) and either a gentle ramble or a longer hike down the canal. You can walk along the canal from here to Lyons estate, also well worth visiting.

Lyons is worth visiting both for its ambience (beautiful converted buildings) for its walks (both in Lyons demesne, and for the canal behind it with its walks and views) , and also for its cafetiere or restaurant conservatory. Whatever you do there, its lovely. And very close to the house here too.
