This is a wonderful place to visit when exploring Grafton Notch State Park, it's a pretty quick walk that leads directly through the gorge, you can look up and it's as though you're walking between great mountains, most of the walk is on wooden stairs that have railings which make it an easy and quick walk to go on.

Routes 4 and 17 meander around Rangeley Lake, the heart of this picturesque journey, like a gentle embrace. Since the mid-1800s, adventurers have flocked to this unspoiled region in pursuit of legendary brook trout and landlocked salmon weighing 10 to 12 pounds.
Today, this year-round destination draws outdoor enthusiasts for fishing, camping, hiking, bicycling, boating, hunting, moose-watching, snowmobiling, and skiing.
The route ascends the Appalachian Mountain ridgeline before descending into rolling valleys and hills. The Height of Land on Route 17 is the highlight, offering breathtaking views of Mooselookmeguntic and Upper Richardson lakes, Toothaker Island, and lush forested mountainsides. Travelers often spot moose grazing on tender grasses, leaves, and branches along the roadside. This route is also ideal for viewing autumn foliage, when the mountainsides are ablaze with vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and red.

Begin the hike by walking on the grass path through the center of the cemetery. Off to the right at the back of the field is a small sign marking the trailhead. The trail meanders through lowland forest. The trail has boardwalks and water bars at major wet areas, but small spots are muddy. As you climb, the trail changes from dirt to boulders and well-placed steps. The trail ends at a rocky outcrop with a beautiful view of the farms and woodlands of the Androscoggin River valley.
