Food scene

One of the few diagonal streets cutting through Philadelphia’s grid design, Passyunk Avenue — and the surrounding neighborhood — has always stood out from the crowd. The highly walkable thoroughfare that gives East Passyunk (pronounced “Pashyunk” by locals) its name is lined with indie boutiques, bars and cafes. It’s home to traditional red gravy Italian restaurants, world-famous cheesesteak spots and highly acclaimed eateries that have earned it a spot on Food and Wine’s list of 10 Best Foodie Streets in America. Straying just off Passyunk Avenue reveals even more exciting finds that highlight the neighborhood’s blend of old-school charm and influx of dynamic new energy.

Gabriella's is an authentic Vietnamese joint that brings soulful Vietnamese street eats — banana leaf wrapped dumplings, various meat and fish platters with rice papers to wrap, king crab fried rice, charbroiled seafood to name a few—to East Passyunk. We know that authenticity matters, and our flavors carry authenticity in each dish. Gabriella's sister restaurant "Melody's Grillhouse" first opened in Ambler, Pennsylvania, in 2019. With a lifetime of cooking and a true love for Asian food, Chef Thanh Nguyen called it her dream restaurant. A year later, the concept (with differing menus) has expanded to Philadelphia. Both of our restaurants are currently BYOB and takes reservations. Although, Gabriella's is in the process of adding a liquor license to the restaurant by mid-2021.

Our new 14,000 square-foot taproom and brewery in Philadelphia's Logan Square will open in the fall of 2021. Located at historic 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, our newest taproom will feature a Prospero Brewing System, a full scratch kitchen, two indoor bars, one outdoor bar, outdoor seating on street level, and a rooftop patio with incredible views of the Parkway. The brewhouse will serve as an innovation hub for Victory beer. Step inside our newest taproom and discover Victory's history, our unique story, and our love for Philly. The story of Victory Brewing Company starts on a school bus in 1973 when fifth-graders Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski stepped aboard, on their way to a new school. The two became fast friends and remained so as they grew up and went to college on opposite coasts. Bill and Ron developed their love of brewing, and a friendly sense of ‘rivalry’ grew between the two. The good-natured competition pushed Bill and Ron to become accomplished home brewers, and as they both grew disenchanted with their jobs in the corporate world, they realized they should turn their hobby into a career. With the right knowledge, experience and a love for quality beer, on February 15th 1996 (after two years of planning), Bill and Ron opened Victory Brewing Company in what was once a Pepperidge Farm factory in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Since then, Victory has opened locations across Chester County in Parkesburg and Kennett Square. Now as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we are excited to expand our footprint and bring Victory beer to the people of Philadelphia.

An architectural treasure inside and out, City Hall is the largest municipal building in the United States, with over 14.5 acres of floor space. Topped with an iconic statue of Philadelphia founder William Penn, the 548-foot tower is the tallest masonry structure in the world without a steel frame, and it was the tallest building in Philadelphia until 1987. The public rooms are among the most lavish in the city; the City Council Chamber, the Mayor’s Reception Room, Conversation Hall and the Supreme Court Room are some of the most ornate.

Night Life

Set in an industrial structure in the heart of Philadelphia’s Fishtown, Frankford Hall nails the perfect balance between edge and charm. Complete with massive garage doors and trees strung with twinkling lights, the space spreads out the action between spacious open-air picnic tables and indoor bar area. Frankford Hall embodies true Teutonic spirit-raising with a modern twist, where German and American beers flow by the half and full liter, joining two-fisted eats like sausages, burgers and warm Bavarian pretzels.
