Sightseeing

Castletown house is the largest Palladian style house in Ireland. Built 1722 I recommend doing the guided tour of the house and on a nice day there is a beautiful outdoor terrace cafe. The parklands should also be explored on foot to take in the full extent of 18th century life for the rich in Ireland.

Walking the Grand Canal is one of my favourite local walks. On the walk you can visit the Village at Lyons for food or a coffee and of course there is McEvoy's pub if you are looking for a reward at the end of your exploration.

This is my local (as we say in Ireland). Whether it is really good pub food, a great Irish Whiskey selection or a pint of the black stuff in the place where Arthur Guinness brewed his first pint this is a local favourite!

Şehir tavsiyesi

Gezinme

There are 2 public bus routes to Dublin

The fastest of these as a bus stop just a five minute walk from the front door. There is a train line out of Celbridge but the station is not a convenient walk away.

Tipping

Tip your tour guide, taxi driver, wait staff etc if the service is good. 10% for a good service, 15% upwards if it is a great service. Always thank the bus driver when getting off the bus. We use a lot of course words in Ireland and call it culture. If someone calls you a really rude name take it as a complement. Sarcasm is everything in Ireland.
Tasarruf etmenin yolları

Public museums and Gallery's are free but closed on Mondays

Book train tickets in advance for savings. Get a Leap card to use on public transport if you are staying around Dublin for a few days.
Gitmeden önce rezervasyon yapın

To avoid queues you should book these in advance

What's The Craic

This phrase covers everything - how are you, are you well, is there anything happening, hi, nice to meet you. You will hear it a lot in Ireland.
