Our favourite place for coffee! This brother and sister run café has the best coffee and doughnuts you’ll ever taste. They have a coffee shop on the main road through Braunton and, when the weather is good, they open up their horsebox above Barricane Beach (Woolacombe) for coffee, doughnuts and delicious cocktails.

New Coast Kitchen, run by Matt and Nicole, chef Martin, and barista Ollie, has just opened in the middle of the village (where The Stores used to be) - and it’s great! It’s our local cafe, and they’ll be serving food any day now.

Surf
Croyde beach is one of the best surf beaches in the UK. If the surf is small, or you’re less confident, aim to go out from mid to high tide. The waves have much more power at low tide, which is great if you know what you’re doing. There are lifeguards during the summer season (10am-6pm), and it’s worth staying between the flags.

Croyde Bay
Croyde beach is one of the best surf beaches in the UK. If the surf is small, or you’re less confident, aim to go out from mid to high tide. Saunton is super popular with longboarders, and is a great beginner beach. You’ll see the longboarders bunched together near the rocks (where a handy rip-current makes getting out easier on big days).

Putsborough is a good place to go when there’s a southwest wind (which is a lot of the time!) as it's a bit more sheltered. Be careful at high tide - the beach gets a bit cutoff!

Combesgate/Barricane beach. Beautiful! It's similar to the Cornish coves. The surf break only works at low tide, so make sure you check the tide times.
