It used to be a bullring in Valencia. It was built between 1850 and 1859 in the neoclassical style, inspired by civil Roman architecture such as the Colosseum in Rome or the Arena of Nîmes in France. It was built by the Valencian architect Sebastián Monleón Estellés. Its structure is formed by a 48-sided polygon, with 384 external arches. It follows the so-called Neo-Mudéjar style.

When you enter the cathedral turn left and look for the ticket booth that gives you access to this 14th century Gothic bell tower attached to the cathedral. After climbing up up up the narrow stone staircase you will be rewarded with spectacular views of el Carmen, the historical centre of Valencia, one of the largest in Europe.
