Sightseeing
Charming town filled with boutique shops, great restaurants and home of one of the most famous & oldest continually operating dance halls around. Since its inception in 1878, not too much has changed at the Hall... it's kept the old school design pretty much the same...If those wooden floors could only talk! What does still talk are some pretty cool old advertising signs (circa 1930s -40s) that adorn the entire tin-pitched roof building. Do keep in mind there's no A/C, but long "side flap" screened windows that pretty much run the span of the building's sides for authentic, old Texas, open air dancing! Its so old school here that credit cards aren't accepted at the wine & beer only bar- so bring cash! It can get crowded but there's also a large outdoor garden you can enjoy on those hot summer days. Willie & Garth play here at times.

Take a beautiful leisurely drive of sightseeing along one of New Braunfels' famous roads; River Road. approximately 10.6 miles in length, it starts near Canyon Lake Dam, skirting along the Guadalupe River & ends at Loop 337, during this beautiful cruise you'll cross over the Guadalupe River 4 times. It can get a bit congested during the summer season but still a fun trip. Just google River Road New Braunfels

Great spot to watch a beautiful sunset with a cool drink in your hand. Live music during the summer season. They do serve food at Baja BBQ Shack however the food is so-so. The sunsets are great though.

Google Canyon Lake Gorge Tour and you'll find info on viewing some amazing history of the lake. Created after the big flood of 2002, when huge amounts of water poured over the spillway & exposing rock strata over 111 million years old! Small waterfalls, dinosaur prints as well as fossils can be seen. Its a workout, so do wear comfortable, good gripping shoes. Pack a couple bottles of water each (especially during summer) & plan around 3hrs to complete. Beautiful &interesting.

Just along the inside of the dam, it's a great place to dip a toe or take a swim. Can be a bit of a walk to get down to the waters edge but worth it! Free parking. It gets crowded & they limit car entry, so plan on going early to ensure your spot during the busy summer months & weekends!

It's not unheard of waiting 2 hrs to be seated! Most of the time the walt is 20-30 min at worst. Nice linen tablecloths & an extensive wine list. You'll find all kinds of dress here from coat & tie to shorts & flip flops (remember, you're at the lake!) The patio is also very pretty to have a meal on. They're closed Mon & Tues.
