“Proudly welcoming local residents and visitors alike, a 34-foot, cast bronze Neptune statue stands at the gateway to Neptune Park and the threshold of the sea. Constructed entirely through the generosity of private contributions gathered by the Neptune Festival, this statue is dedicated to the city of Virginia Beach and its citizens. Surrounded by the creatures of his realm, mighty trident in hand, Neptune’s gaze rests affectionately on the shore. His heroic visage honors the maritime legacy of Virginia Beach while also standing as a vivid reminder of the community’s duty to respect and protect our natural blessings.”

“Our least visited park in VA. Only accessible by foot, bike or boat through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. A true gem. Camping is available.”

Park
“The refuge was established June 6, 1938 as a crucial link along the Atlantic flyway, the migration route that takes birds from Summer breeding grounds in the North to Winter feeding grounds & rest. Educational programming is offered by park rangers. Best time to visit is late Fall/Winter when viewing birds. The trails are flat and easy to navigate. Make sure you bring your camera and if you're into birdwatching a spotting scope because there's always something to see or take a photo of.”

“Beautiful and diverse three mile trail you must see if you like being outdoors. Park on 64th outside the park to save on parking, or park inside the gate. One past the entrance gate on the left side There’s a 3 mile trail (1.5 miles one way and then repeat trail to return). Takes you through the woods, by the water, through old cypress marshes, over bridges (you’ll see crabs and fish beneath), and more until you eventually come to a beach called the Narrows. Biking permitted on this trail. There are longer trails to the right, the pretty ones through the waters edge on the right don’t permit bikes but this 3 mile one is easy and my favorite for running, walking, or biking. ”
