“Visitor services are concentrated in five different areas: Grant Grove, Giant Forest, and Foothills areas stay open all year. Cedar Grove and Mineral King open from late spring to early fall. Campgrounds are open in all areas spring through fall; some stay open in winter. Find lodging and other services at Grant Grove, Giant Forest, and Wuksachi year-round, and at Cedar Grove during summer and early fall. “"The Trail of 100 Giants is the most popular attraction in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and it’s easy to see why. The trail is easy to get to, it’s short, flat, and paved, and it’s got a lot of really impressive trees. Nonetheless, this is still the National Forest, so it’s not exactly crowded - there might be 5 or 6 groups on the trail at any given moment. There are about 20 really big trees along the trail." aprox 2 hrs away”

“2-1/2 hours one way. This dramatic landscape testifies to nature's size, beauty, and diversity--huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, and the world's largest trees. These two parks lie side by side in the southern Sierra Nevada east of the San Joaquin Valley. Weather varies a lot by season and elevation, which ranges from 1,370' to 14,494'.”

“Awesome local hike, not many tourists venture here. It’s a steep Hike but you can pace yourself for the hour hike (mostly uphill) to the top, where you will be greeted by an employee of the Forrest service. She is there Constantly checking for lightning strikes, which she reports for fire prevention. She is always kind and will teach you about the area and her job. It’s one of the highest peaks in the Sierra mountain range Thus perfect location to see amazing views. If you have seen the movie “Lord of the rings“ it looks great deal like the steep mountains in the movie. It’s my favorite hike. ”
