“You can walk up our road, which ends at a fire road that takes you right up into China Camp. Keep walking up, and you'll soon be able to see all around the Bay, from Mt. Tamalpais to the Golden Gate to Mount Diablo in the East Bay.”

“Our local park in next door Ross offers access to dozens of trailheads, both hiking and bike routes. The parking lot is small and you may have to wait in line for a space. If there's a line up of waiting cars be patient, it doesn't take too long for a space to open up. To avoid the wait altogether, we often have our daughter drop us off at the park and we hike home from there. The park is about a 5 minute drive from 274 Oak.”

“For panoramic vistas of San Anselmo & San Rafael, try our neighborhood hiking trail on the ridge overlooking Sun Valley! Walk there by heading right on 5th Ave past Andy's. The Sun Valley trailhead is just past the school, which is a block from the market. It's a vigorous switchback. Or the ridge is a 4 min drive from here. Take Solano past the Park, go left on K St. Make a right on Forbes, then take your next left on Elizabeth Way. Take Elizabeth up the hill & veer left at the top. Make a right on Ridgewood Dr. Take it until it ends at the trailhead. Park & walk in. Enjoy a 30-60 min walk. Be sure to climb the hill on the left for stunning panoramic vistas, about 15 mins in! ”

“Our local town park, it has tennis courts, a community garden, and a great flat dirt path that circles the big green playing fields (you see baseball, soccer, and cricket being played for example). Piper Park is adjacent to Corte Madera Creek and there is a wooden boat dock too far away from the parking lot to actually launch a boat, but it is a fun place to watch the rowing sculls go by. If you circle the dirt path 4 times, you’ve walked a mile. Great views of Mt. Tam”

“Just 5 mins walk up the street from your garden gate and you are in Sorich Ranch Park. At the top of the road is a car park and flat area, there is also a little walk through a small redwood grove by a stream bed. If you walk through the car park you hit the main trail head which takes you uphill to a dirt firewood at the top. Great panoramic views of the bay, the civic center, Mount Tam, etc. You can follow the main path and eventually come out into the neighborhoods above our street (Tomahawk Rd) and walk back down completing the loop. This should take about an hour. There are other walks possible too.”

“To get a feel for giant coastal redwoods in their natural habitat, step out of downtown Larkspur and into the majestic redwood groves on King Mountain. The trees here are bigger than the ones around SF. Take the Ladybug Trail to gushing Dawn Falls or circuit the mountain’s mixed woodlands on the Loop Trail. Listen for calls of the pileated woodpecker, one of the largest old-growth forest birds in North America with a striking red crest. And watch out for precious banana slugs below, a prized decomposer of coastal forests.”

“BIG playground with 2 spaces, one for smaller tots and one for big kids (who are ok with being out of a parent's sight). Dinosaur and lots of slides and climbing. Also a big grassy field to run on. ”
